This Anthony is a special Rendon-ition!

Friday was all about the pitching and Saturday was much more about the offensive outputs.  Many home runs, runs scored, and high scoring games that left fantasy owners happy in most of the production categories.  I hit .330 on the day so it was a good day for me.  I hope everyone else had just as strong of an offensive splurge.  It’s a bit late but better late than never! Here’s Saturdays Fantasy Baseball Recap.

Anthony Rendon:  3-5 with two runs, one home run, and one RBI.  The rookie has been great since the call up.  That was his first home run and has a .361 average and .426 OBP.  With 22 hits already he is a viable infield option now in most leagues.  Go grab him while you can because he won’t be there for long.

Howie Kendrick: 3-3 with one RBI and a walk.  He has been on fire and is one of the best second basemen in the game.  Not to mention he absolutely kills the Yankees.  He reached base four times and is batting .335 on the year now with eight home runs and 35 RBIs.  The guy is a must start and is having a career year.

B.J. Upton: 2-4 with three runs, two home runs, three RBIs, and stolen base.  He’s moved his average up about 20 points the last couple weeks and has been having some pretty solid games.  If he can get a real good groove going he’d be the fantasy option everyone thought he’d be when he was drafted.  Now batting .166 with a .264 OBP he deserves to be put back into lineups with what he has been doing.  Upton has eight home runs now with five stolen bases, which we should see increase soon.

Mike Carp: 1-3 with one run, one home run, and two RBIs.  Ever since leaving Seattle he has been a great option for the Red Sox and any fantasy owner who snagged him.  Carp is hitting .324 with a .379 OBP and hit his eighth home run yesterday.  Eligible in the outfield and at first base and I think he has proven, for now, to be used in most leagues.  Add him to the watch list if anything.

Adam Lind:  2-4 with two runs, a home run, and two RBIs.  If you remember I wrote about a week or two ago about adding him because of his average growing by the week and this weekend Lind is putting on a clinic.  Now batting .350 with a .417 OBP with eight home runs, 24 RBIs, and 30 runs scored.  If he is still available grab him immediately because he is one of the hottest hitters right now.  That .400+ OBP is something that should never be ignored.

Matt Joyce:  1-3 with one run, one home run, and one RBI.  Joyce is continuing his power surge by launching his 14th jack of the year on Saturday and also should be added in all leagues as of one or two weeks ago.  Another extremely hot hitter, he is now hitting .270 with a .355 OBP and 31 RBIs and 39 runs.  Much more production than any of us would have thought coming into 2013.

Yovani Gallardo:  6IP, 3 hits, 0 earned, 2BB, and 5Ks.  Gallardo hasn’t been the same this year and a big disappointment.  He is still worth a stash in your leagues though.  He is now 6-6 on the year with a 4.41 ERA.  He was able to shutdown the Reds which is a good sign.  That is also two back-to-back great starts for Gallardo so hopefully he is turning over a new leaf going forward.

David Freese:  3-4 with three runs, a home run, and two RBIs.  I wrote last week that he is gaining momentum and on Saturday he is further proving it.  That was his fourth home run and raised his average to .291 with a .365 OBP, which is more of his type of numbers.  The homers will come and for now should be started in all leagues.

Ben Revere:  3-5 with one run, one RBI, and a stolen base.  He has been on fire the past few weeks raising his average 30+ points and stealing tons of bases.  Now hitting .271, which was much better than his .230, and now with 16 stolen bases, is quietly becoming a fantasy option again.  I’d stash him on the bench, pick him up now, or add him to your watch list because he could be deeper league help for sure.

Wilin Rosario: 3-4 with three runs and two RBIs.  Rosario is slumping of late but I still consider him one of the best power hitting catchers in the game.  He has been getting into a hot streak lately and owners shouldn’t have to worry as he now has 11 home runs and 35 RBIS with a .257 average.  The production is still there but he needs to get on base more to be a bigger threat.  His .291 OBP is among the lowest at the catcher position.

Trevor Plouffe:  3-3 with two runs, a home run, and three RBIs.  He’s a solid third base option in all leagues if you need help at the hot corner.  That was his fifth home run and now has 20 RBIs.  His .264 average and .344 OBP are not bad and he could help out a lot in production when he catches on.  Remember he was on the DL for a little while, but I’d give the guy a shot.

There you have it Saturday’s recap with a whole bunch of offense, like I said before, is the complete opposite of what we saw on Friday.  Catch me on Twitter @NickRosa4 for any questions or advice.  All of our writers are ready for any questions you may have.  Good luck and see you all next week!
